That’s My Girl. . .

We just got back from parent-teacher conferences.  Both of our girls are exceptionally smart (those are the teacher’s words, not mine, honest!).  I, of course, have known this all along, but I have to say I was a bit surprised with this news:  Bryn is testing as “gifted” in math!!  They are going to put her in a special class once a week to challenge her more in that area.  Yup, that’s right.  She’s a genious.

My New Nephew

I have a new nephew.  Conner David Leichty was born Oct. 24 weighing in at a hefty 6 lbs. 1 oz. He is now a week old and he is as sweet as can be.  I spent the evening snuggling up with him and convincing him that I should be his favorite Aunt.  I think I made some progress.  He is so very little, but he’s got some pretty impressive pipes.  He goes from 0 to 60 faster than any baby I’ve ever seen.  Out of nowhere he starts crying and it get serious very quickly.  My sister is doing well despite the fact that Conner was up every hour and a half last night. . .just a good reminder of why I’m not doing it again.

In other, much less exciting, news, we had to replace the circuit board on our heating system today.  The house got down to 59 degrees before we could get it fixed.  That’s a little too chilly for me.  I’m just glad it happened now and not in the middle of a snowstorm.

We spent part of the day at the zoo with the girls.  The twins didn’t have school today so we took advantage of our zoo membership and hung out with the monkeys.  We also spent some time with a 24 foot python named “FluffY” who eats 10 pounds of rabbits every week, thus the name.  Sick, I know.
